Ian Cooper - Session Violinist

 

Ian Cooper is an all-round violinist, proficient in just about every known musical style. From Classical, Country, Rock, Jazz, Gypsy, Irish, Indian, Cuban, Bluegrass and Folk, Ian has earned his reputation with Australian music producers as "The guy to call" for anything violin or fiddle.

 

He has over 14 violins, violas and cellos which ensures the correct instrument for the style - obviously he wouldn't use a nasty sounding instrument that would be quite at home on a blues track, for a lush violin solo on a vocal ballad for a Christmas album for example. He has appeared on Australian pop, rock and indie music CDs and countless radio and TV ads.

Ian uses Pro Tools on a Mac. Songs can be sent from anywhere in the world as either as a Pro Tools session, WAV or AIFF file. The violin or fiddle is recorded, and the violin part/s uploaded in your preferred format. Turnaround can certainly be 24 hours, if not earlier, and just let him know how you'd like it played: cool, groovy, gently, devilishly hot, and he'll more than likely get it first go. The fact that it is recorded in Sydney, Australia is really inconsequential.
